THE ADOPTION PROCESS

The Social Inquiry

This is an introduction by the prospective adoption parent.

Your family background

What arrangements you have made

We support you and give counselling

We visit you at home

Placement

Meet the child
Take the child home for a three month bonding period.
Monthly visits by the adoption social worker.

Court

Get a lawyer and apply to the high court for an adoption certificate.
Assessment by a court appointed officer.
The court pronounces the child is yours for good.
